White Denim – Street Joy Cover

Street Joy Cover Video

So it’s taken me six months but I have finally filmed another cover video. With my last UK tour and my move to LA in recent months I just haven’t found myself in one place long enough to get one shot. Now that I am settled and set up I plan to shoot these much more frequently. This is a song called Street Joy by a band from Texas called White Denim. They’ve had music out since 2007 so I guess I’m a little late getting on the bandwagon but I recently bought their fourth full-length studio release D and have really enjoyed it!

I think I initially got onto these guys by purchasing another fantastic album by American Indie Rock band Other Lives titled Tamer Animals. I highly recommend giving both a listen if you get a chance.

Anyway, the real reason for this post was to share my new cover video! So I hope you enjoy my version of White Denim’s Street Joy! If you have any requests, please place them in the comments section of this video on YouTube. As always your likes/shares/comments and subscriptions are greatly appreciated and are a big part of what keeps me going as a musician!

Young The Giant Cough Syrup

My cover of Young The Giant Cough Syrup

Young The Giant Cough Syrup is finally here! It’s been far too long since my last cover video and I apologise for the delay. My three-month trip to the USA followed by a visit with family back home in Adelaide during the lead up to UK Tour 2012 has left me with little to no time to do anything! It was fun covering this video though so please let me know what you think of my version of Young The Giant Cough Syrup!

WICKED CAMPERS

As I sit at home trying to finalise my packing for the next several months of my life (Moving house – Adelaide – Xmas – New Years – Beach House – Melbourne – Gold Coast – Great Barrier Reef – LA – all before mid February) I remember the good times in my Wicked Camper Van in the UK. Twice now they have made my tour around the UK possible and I am so grateful to the awesome team at Wicked for being such a lovely leg up in a difficult economic climate! Please if you have any pics of me with the Van or just of the Van please post them to facebook or twitter over the break. For those of you that didn’t get a pic but did get to see me play live, the nicest thing you could do would be to tweet a massive thank you to @wickedcamperseu for facilitating my return to the UK! Something simple like “Thanks @wickedcamperseu for bringing @samclarkmusic to the UK again!” would be the best xmas gift you could give me!

Thanks so much guys for all your support and I hope everyone has a safe and loving christmas and new year break whatever you are doing!

I’m hoping to put together a special xmas newsletter too (may be a few days late depending on how packing goes today haha) – so if you haven’t already signed up please do so here

UK Tour 2011 Complete

So here I am awake at 6am on Saturday and thanks to wonderful Jet lag I am awake. I still haven’t unpacked yet and probably should have before writing this but I felt the urge to say a massive thank you to everyone involved. I won’t make a massive list because I’m sure I’ll mess it up in my current sleepless state but I will explain what this trip has meant for me.

After my previous experiences in the music industry (management and a label with different intentions to mine) I had started to become unsure of my future in the music industry. This tour was a massive test for me. Would my fans like my new music and would I enjoy touring as a total barebones tour – just me and my guitar performing daily in front of between 15-15000 people. If this worked then I would create music for as long as I could still afford and enjoy it?

And I’m pleased to say I loved my time in the UK. It had it’s ups and downs (especially financially) but I’m hoping with some luck to be back again sometime in 2012 :) I truly love what I am doing with my music again for the first time in years and I have every positive person in the last 5 years of my musical journey and especially those involved with my 2011 UK tour to thank for that!

Anyway I think I’m just rambling now and feel I can almost convince myself to do some washing and unpack everything so I think it’s time for me to sign off!

Thank you all so much

Peace and much love to you all

London Show Announced!

So I have been working my little Aussie bum off (with the help of some helpful fans) trying to get a show close to London prior to my departure. Finally I have some positive news! It’s happening!

Like over 80% of this tour – I am not getting paid for this gig. Whilst I do love my music so much I don’t care if I get paid or not, I also am running out of savings in the bank and really want to make it back to the UK for another tour. I have been told there will be an opportunity to pass around a hat for tips, so if you love what you see and hear, and are feeling generous enough to help pay for my bus and tube into and out of the gig, I would appreciate you digging deep to fill that hat to the brim with whatever you can afford :D

I am so happy that I get to come closer to you guys and play one final gig for those who haven’t been able to make it to the North thus far. Please do me the honour of smiling and clapping and singing as loud as you can! Venue capacity is only around 60 so I guess it will be a case of first in best dressed (though they have said we can squeeze a few extra in if need be :D

Peace & much love to you guys

Your support in promoting my EP ‘My Own Way‘ would be so greatly appreciated! It is currently the only real way I have of making enough money to house and feed myself on this trip!

Anyway enough of my sob stories haha – please check out the updated info for week 4 of tour :D (please note these are just those gigs with a change – there is still some info to follow for some gigs and there are some gigs without change so please se my shows page for all up to date show details!
